10 Great Vegan Restaurants In Dallas Texas

A visit to Dallas, Texas is always a fun filled experience for individuals, couples, and families. Although Texas is usually associated with steak restaurants, BBQ, and Mexican-style food, Dallas is a wonderful city for foodies. There are actually more restaurants in Dallas than are found in New York City.

Downtown and Uptown Dallas, the SMU area, and the region around the Dallas Galleria have a diversity of styles and cuisine. Although many large cities are limited when it comes to vegan restaurants, Dallas is one of the exceptions. This isn’t a complete list of all the vegan restaurants in Dallas, but it highlights some of the local favorites spots, and even includes a few that aren’t strictly vegan, but serve great vegetarian dishes.

1.)D’Vegan

D’Vegan is one of the all-vegan restaurants in the Dallas area, and is located in the Hong Kong Market on Walnut Street. The cuisine is authentic Vietnamese. The crisp noodles usually have eggs as an ingredient. Among the favorite dishes are Mì Xào Dòn Thập Cẩm, which isn’t served at a lot of restaurants, and contains tofu, pineapple, shiitake mushrooms, and vegetables.

2.) Goji Cafe

Goji Cafe in Dallas has a simple philosophy, that a vegan diet should be healthy, contain fresh ingredients, and be authentic. It should also appeal to vegetarians and meat eaters, which is why they feature such a diverse menu. They serve regional Asian cuisine and traditional dishes substituting soy for meat. A lunch buffet and fresh fruit juices are also on the menu. Goji Cafe is located on Royal Lane in Dallas.

3.) Loving Hut International Cafe

Loving Hut isn’t a Dallas-based restaurant. They have more than 200 restaurants around the world, but are included in this list because their delicious food is worth mentioning. All the traditional noodle, rice, and vegetable dishes that are served in Asian restaurants are on the menu. They also serve a large selection of burgers, specialty fruit drinks, and desserts. The best part is everything is vegan. Some of the dishes are regional, so may not be served at all the locations.

4.) Spiral Diner and Bakery

Spiral Diner and Bakery in Oak Cliff, serves an extensive vegan menu that includes appetizers, fresh salads, wraps and sandwiches, burgers, and entrees. A variety of organic coffees, teas and organic juices are on the menu. All freshly baked desserts are made with organic flour, sugar, and non-hydrogenated oil. Delicious,i-scream smoothies, shakes, and dessert favorites including sundaes and banana splits are featured. Spiral Diner also serves a selection of microbrewery and organic beer and organic wines.

5.) Tough Cookie Bakery

Tough Cookie Bakery is a vegetarian bake shop that sells their vegan baked goods at farmer’s markets around Dallas, and at area festivals. Pretzel bread, cinnamon rolls, and eggplant with tomato sauce are favorites. They buy a lot of the ingredients they use in their recipes at farmer’s markets. Their baked goods are available at the White Rock Market on selected weekends. They also set up at the farmer’s market that’s held at St. Michael”s and All Angels Episcopal Church.

6.) Best Thai

Best Thai serves authentic Thai and vegetarian dishes, and has been a favorite in Dallas since 1996. More than 20 vegetarian dishes are on the menu, and they’re famous for their signature curry dishes. A variety of stir fry dishes are on the menu, and may be made vegan-style or with meat. Best Thai is located in North Dallas and Addison.

7.) Freshii

Freshii is a large franchise with restaurants in more than 50 cities. They specialize in healthy dishes that include wraps, burritos, soups, salads, bowls, and custom orders. Low carb, high energy breakfasts are the way to start your day. Low-fat, probiotic yogurt with a selection of toppings makes a delicious dessert. Although dishes can be made vegan-style, you may also add chicken, steak, or shrimp.

8.)Indian Flavours

A family catering service which has expanded into the restaurant business, Indian Flavours serves authentic Indian cuisine including sandwiches, wraps, Wada-Pakora, Gujarati Thali/Combos, and a selection of daily specials and rice dishes.

9.) Cosmic Cafe

Cosmic Cafe has been rated as one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the Dallas area. They serve an extensive selection of “big bang entrees,” including spinach enchiladas and a dish that features portabello mushrooms and basmati rice with salad. The restaurant features light offerings and signature dishes.

10.) Madras Pavilion

Madras Pavilion is a large chain restaurant featuring Indian-style cuisine. It got its start in Houston. The Dallas restaurants serve a selection of vegetarian and kosher dishes, Indo-Chinese specialties, vegetarian curries, and specials for kids.

Although at one time it was difficult to find good vegan-style restaurants, new restaurants that serve vegetarian dishes are opening all over the country. they’re also offering larger selections of creative vegan dishes.

    Tough Cookie Bakery no longer operates in Dallas anymore (or anywhere else for that matter). Luckily, a new all-vegan bakery opened up named Reverie Bakeshop – I would certainly put them on this list!
